Tools in Action – the GRI and strategic corporate engagement with the SDGs

A conversation on tools and opportunities for strategic corporate engagement with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With Pietro Bertazzi, Global Reporting Initiative, and Norma Schönherr, Institute for Managing Sustainability, WU Vienna.

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) was one of several initiatives represented in the development of the Sustainable Development Goals. The GRI Standards & Guidelines are among of the most widely applied sustainability reporting tools available today. In addition, the GRI is involved in a partnership with the Word Business Council for Sustainable Development and the UN Global Compact that has recently released the SDG Compass – a framework for strategic engagement with the SDGs.

In this session, Pietro Bertazzi will discuss the role of business in achieving the SDGs, why transparency is such an important pre-requisite to corporate sustainability and update the audience on the latest developments around the roll-out of GRI initiatives and tools for strategic corporate engagement with the SDGs.

This webcast was first published at the GLOBAL VALUE virtual launch, the final conference of the GLOBAL VALUE project, on 13th June 2017. The  webcast series “tools in action” provides a platform for sharing the latest developments on a range of tools. For more information, read the GLOBAL VALUE tool showcase on the SDG Compass
